Introducing Your Therapist:

Meet Amelia Smith-Brown

I graduated from Trevecca Nazarene University with a Masters in Marriage Family Therapy in 2014. My reason for opening Change In Motion Therapy was to offer support in the most open, diverse, and loving manner. I wanted a space where people could bare their soul and be guided without judgement toward healing. Change In Motion Therapy has become that vision through the use of my skills from working as a Community Support Specialist and within the school systems of Nashville, TN.  Life throws us trouble at times, and I am here to help you navigate this journey of change.

Our Story

Change often begins with a realization — and mine came while working for an agency.
I noticed early on that the way I connected with clients was different. I cared deeply, not just about their progress, but about who they were as people. I believed every client deserved to be seen, heard, and supported in a way that honored their individuality, not just their symptoms or situations.

After doing some personal work and gaining clarity about the kind of impact I wanted to have, I made the decision to leave the agency world. I knew there had to be a better way — a way to create a space where families, children, couples, and individuals could show up fully as themselves and be welcomed into a place of possibility and hope.

From that vision, CHange In Motion Therapy was born.

Every aspect of my practice is intentionally designed to reflect compassion, authenticity, and the belief that growth happens when we are truly accepted. Here, clients are not just cases — they are human beings with rich stories, strengths, struggles, and dreams.

It’s an honor to walk alongside each person who steps through my doors, and to offer a space where healing, connection, and real change can unfold.

Things I Love

My name is Amelia Smith-Brown

I'm a bit of an eclectic soul who finds joy in many corners of life. I love getting lost in a good book, exploring new adventures, and feeling the calm energy of the ocean and beach. I enjoy getting dolled up for a night out, painting to express my creativity, dancing to a good song, taking peaceful walks in the park, and indulging in a little shopping.
Above all, I cherish the time I spend with my husband and children — they are the heart of my world and my greatest adventure.
Life is meant to be colorful, full, and ever-evolving — and I’m always ready for the next beautiful moment.

I graduated from Trevecca Nazarene University with a Masters in Marriage Family Therapy in 2014. I am passionate about working with children, emerging adults, and couple while taking a special interest in walking with these populations through the troubles this generation faces day to day. My experience as a school based counselor and in management as a Community Support Specialist has provided me with intrinsic skills for working with all populations, as well as the families and friends supporting them.

My ideal client is a client looking to generate change with small guidance in order to build new and more healthy ideals of themselves in all areas of life be it relationships, inner turmoil, and or problematic cycles that are causing strain within daily life.

I work with a variety of issues. I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and pulls from various therapy models as in Narrative Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). I seeks to help clients feel at ease and hopeful through life’s confusing and trying times.

My ability to connect, empathize, and challenge rigid thoughts and patterns are what allow for the success in  working with clients to make changes and meet the goals that they have set for themselves.
